How do you apply for a grant?

It depends on what you want the grant for. If you need help paying utiliity bills then your social service agency would be the place to go because they are familiar with these kinds of programs and can help you fill out the forms (that they should have a supply of)

Now for other kinds of grants that will depend on what entity is supplying the grant. If it is a government grant then their corresponding website will provide you with the basic information that you will need to know like what kind of information that you have to submit to apply and what amount the grant award is for.

Now there are other entities that have grant programs such as foundations, organizations and businesses - for those you would have to get in contact with the individual organization that is sponsoring the grant.
